Techland and Gree deliver new mobile-focused talks at GDC Next

Techland and Gree deliver new mobile-focused talks at GDC Next

October 21, 2014 | By Staff

GDC Next 2014 featuring ADC is fast approaching, and conference officials are excited to reveal another pair of useful talks that will take place at this year's November conference.

Curious about mobile game development? Techland producer Pawel Rohleder will be speaking at GDC Next about how his studio managed to launch its own small mobile game team inside the larger Techland operation, while Gree International's Chris Tabasa will be sharing advice on the best ways to keep players of your next mobile game satisfied weeks, months, and years after launch.

GDC Next and ADC, which aim to highlight practical ways for developers to increase the creative and financial success of their projects, are taking place simultaneously on November 3rd-4th, 2014 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Techland (Dead Island) technology producer Pawel Rohleder reveals how the studio went about launching Shortbreak Studios (Hellraid: The Escape) -- a small, holistic mobile game development team that operates inside Techland -- in his GDC Next 2014 talk "Making Indie Mobile Games Within Big Game Development Companies - Lessons Learned."

Check it out to learn how the Polish company went about adapting tools and processes from big game development for use by a small, agile team. You'll also learn what to do -- and not do -- when setting up a new team dedicated to rapidly prototyping and launching mobile games.

For more insight into what you should be doing after you launch your next mobile game, head over to Chris Tabasa's Help! How Do I Keep My Players Happy?!" session on GDC Next's Community track of talks. Tabasa works as Gree International's Director of Consumer Operations and Quality Assurance, and he'll be sharing lessons learned in leading customer service operations and maintaining an excited player base for years after a game's launch.

Tabasa hopes to teach you how to use new tools and development techniques to keep your players happy in the face of significant obstacles such as bugs, server issues and user complaints.

Conference organizers look forward to announcing more talks in the weeks before this year's GDC Next featuring ADC, which takes place November 3rd-4th, 2014 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
