Market research firm Media Create has revealed data for weekly hardware sales in Japan for the week ending November 11th, following details of the software top thirty.

After the Xbox 360 saw sales spike last week, following a price cut, new hardware bundles and the release of Ace Combat 6, it has been the PlayStation 3's turn to turn the usual order upside down. Coinciding with the first anniversary of the console in Japan, this week has seen the launch of the 40GB model as well as price cuts for the 20GB and 60GB models.

With the new force feedback equipped DualShock 3 controller also going on sale at the same time, the PlayStation 3 has seen sales more than triple, with a rise of almost 38,500 units to 55,924. Although still behind the Nintendo DS and PSP, this made the PlayStation 3 the best selling home console of the week.

Nintendo DS sales were near identical to the previous week, at 78,884 units, while the PSP was down less than 1,000 units to 58,964. After a moderate spike last week, following the release of Super Mario Galaxy, Wii sales dropped by around 3,000 units to 34,546.

The PlayStation 2 saw sales drop by just over 1,000 units, falling below the 10,000 mark for the first time this year at 9,043. After its high last week, Xbox 360 sales fell by a third, dropping by almost 12,000 units to 5,817. The Game Boy Advance family of consoles saw sales triple to 923 units.
