[This unedited press release is made available courtesy of Gamasutra and its partnership with notable game PR-related resource GamesPress.]

Scaredy Cat Games, a new indie developer based near Oxford, is getting down to some monkey business with its first game for  iOS,  Mashed up Monkeys, which will be available in the iTunes App Store from 14 th February 2013.

It is an intriguing puzzler platform hybrid with the added depth of a quirky narrative running through its 50+ levels over three distinct locations.

Mashed up Monkeys offers both a quick gaming hit with its superbly designed control mechanics, which can be played with one hand, and also longevity with its large number of levels and underlying story.

The aim of Mashed up Monkeys is to control one of five monkeys as they harvest fruit for a brew but of course it’s not as simple as that! You’ll have to dodge Spiders, Snakes, Snares and Aliens in order to progress through the three locations of Jungles, Laboratories and Outer Space.

The distinctive look of the game is what one would expect from a group of VFX and ex-Console game developers from Sony, Codemasters, EA and Wizards of the Coast.

In announcing the upcoming release of Mashed up Monkeys Managing Director of Scaredy Cat Anthony Delegaigne said “Our ambition is to take our wealth of game development expertise to develop fun, exciting and visually stunning mobile game titles. We believe we have achieved this with Mashed up Monkeys. Its looks fantastic, sounds great and we’ve nailed the control mechanism!  We also think we’ve created a gaming experience which can be played in short burst but which also alos offers a longer term experience. We are certain that Mashed up Monekys will revolutionise the way you play with monkeys!“

With a quality sound track, superb physics and stunning HD quality artwork and 3D graphics (thanks in part to the VFX pedigree of the studio) Mashed up Monkeys will appeal to both causal and committed gamers. So get those monkeys on the loose and help them get their Jungle Juice!

The game has been to designed to play beautifully on all iOS devices i.e. iPhone (including iPhone 5), iPod touch, iPod mini and iPad.

Mashed up Monkeys will go on sale in the iTunes App store on Thursday 14 th February priced at $ 0.99/£ 0.69
