[Every week GameSetWatch editor-in-chief Eric Caoili rounds up the latest news/media for obscure and offbeat games from Gamasutra's sister site and alternative video game blog.]

Over at our alt video game blog GameSetWatch, we shared a number of fun stories during the past week, including the bewildering winner of Nokia's $250,000 "Innovators" prize, Sega's new Sonic the Hedgehog playground in Oakland, and more.

GameSetWatch's highlights from the last week:

Sega Building Sonic the Hedgehog Playground In Oakland - Celebrating Sonic the Hedgehog's 20th anniversary (and the upcoming release of Sonic Generations), Sega of America announced that it's helping design and build a custom playground inspired by its blue mascot in East Oakland, California.

Nokia Gives $250,000 "Innovators" Prize To A Puzz Loop Clone (pictured) - The word "innovation" has officially lost all meaning, as Nokia has named the mobile puzzler Sparkle, which looks more than a little like Mitchell's oft-cloned puzzler Puzz Loop, the winner of its "Calling All Innovators" contest, awarding producer 10tons a cash prize of $250,000.

Terrific Metal Slug Augmented Reality Concept - If this is where augmented reality games are headed, with awesome sprites taking cover behind real-world objects, blurred items in the foreground and shadows on the floor to emphasize the depth, and four-player co-op, then count me in on this gimmick.

The Long Overdue Commodore 64 Port Of Prince Of Persia - Many have been patiently waiting a Commodore 64/64 Games System/128 version of Prince of Persia, which finally arrived yesterday in the form of mrsid's immaculate conversion. But it could be argued that no one has waited longer than the creator of the original game himself, Jordan Mechner.

Cliff Bleszinski Scientifically Determined To Be The World's Best Game Developer - Epic Games' Cliff Bleszinski has claimed top honors in PeekYou's prestigious Top 10 Game Developers Under 40, a list that "account your known presence and activity on the Internet, including but not limited to your blogging, participation in social networks, the number of your friends, followers, or readers, the amount of web content you create, and your prominence in the news."

Zelda, Modern Warfare 3-Themed Doodle Jump Clones Infest Apple's App Store - Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda series had at last arrived in the App Store...as Ultimate iZelda Climb, a clone of Lima Sky's perpetually copied action game Doodle Jump.
