Vancouver-based Exploding Barrel Games, best known as the team behind social game MargaritaVille Online, has been acquired by online games giant Kabam.

According to Inside Social Games, it was Exploding Barrel's core development roots that Kabam found attractive -- indeed, the 30+ strong studio features individuals who have worked on console franchises like SSX and Need for Speed.

The studio, which was originally founded by ex-EA designer Scott Blackwood in 2009, will remain in Vancouver and continue working on its current titles, including Blastron, which is due for launch on iOS soon, and two other unannounced titles.

This is just the latest in a string of acquisition from Kabam. Previously it has purchased Balanced Worlds, WonderHill, Fearless Studios, Gravity Bear, and Wild Shadow Studios.
