New update adds more personality and flare to virtual Rube Goldberg machines with new coloring feature & more gadgets

Vancouver, BC — May 27 2020: Metanaut today is announcing their biggest update ever for their Rube Goldberg machine inspired VR puzzler, Gadgeteer. The update will be available on all major VR platforms including the Oculus Quest, Rift, Rift S, Valve Index, HTC Vive, and Windows Mixed Reality devices on June 11th, 2020. After the update, players will find a new toolhead and two new gadgets. The new toolhead, which they've named “Color Toolhead”, will allow players to color their machines using 60+ colors. In addition, two new gadgets are introduced and are named "Start Cube" and "End Cube.” They will allow players to remotely start their machines and create puzzles that can be uploaded and shared in the upcoming online sharing feature (slated for release in August).

Metanaut says feedback for the “Color Toolhead” from early testers is astonishingly positive despite receiving no requests for the feature. “We trusted our gut and made the risky decision to develop a feature nobody asked for,” said Peter Kao, co-founder and CEO of Metanaut. “We saw passionate players build these incredible machines—but no matter how different they were mechanically, they all looked the same. We think the Color Toolhead is an important addition because it leads to our upcoming online sharing feature, allowing players to personalize their machines and discover unexpected machine types.”

To celebrate this update, Metanaut has uploaded a mini-trailer video introducing a new type of machine that wasn't possible to build before. This new type of machine, called a “marble run”, makes use of tracks, rails, catapults, and more to build elaborate race courses for colorful balls that bump, turn, and fly towards the finish line.

According to Metanaut, the next major update will be an even bigger update with the introduction of online sharing, which will effectively give players an infinite amount of puzzles to solve. In addition to this, the studio is currently prototyping a large collection of new gadgets to add to their existing 50+ gadget library. They hope to double the current gadget count.

If you're interested in testing the online sharing feature and playing with the new set of gadgets, join the closed beta by signing up here: The closed beta is only available to players who own the game.
