LOS ANGELES, NOVEMBER 14th, 2019 - Timberline Studio is thrilled to announce as part of Microsoft’s X019 that its dog-sledding narrative survival game, The Red Lantern, will be coming to Xbox One in 2020. The title will also be available the same day as its release with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Game Pass for console.

The Red Lantern is a resource management narrative game where you and your team of five sled dogs must survive the wilderness and find your way home. Set in Nome, Alaska, you play as The Musher, voiced by Ashly Burch (Horizon: Zero Dawn, Life is Strange), as she sets out to train for the grueling Iditarod race.

The game combines roguelite elements into this story-driven adventure game, where hundreds of different events can occur—like fending off bears, resisting frostbite, attending your dogs, or receiving a signature moose-licking. The Red Lantern will be releasing on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in 2020.

  • Survive the Alaskan wilderness in this dog sledding, story-driven, rogue-lite game
  • Choose how you want to interact with the world, do you tackle it head on hunting everything that moves, or do you take a more cautious approach?
  • Discover the hundreds of unique encounters as you and your dogs explore the world and try to find your way home.
The Red Lantern is Timberline Studio's debut game and is funded by Kowloon Nights. Lindsey Rostal, the studio’s co-founder, is also part of Kowloon Nights team.

About Timberline Studio

In a cozy, sunlit coffee shop in South Pasadena, California. Lindsey Rostal and Nathan Fulton chatted about the power of narrative games and the player’s story. It was this meeting that set them on a path to experiment with the narrative experience. Together they joined forces to found Timberline Studio and embarked on creating their debut title, The Red Lantern. Now, with a small but mighty team with decades of combined development experience, they are working to build a game that will surprise and delight players.
