Nearly two years after its initial release on the iOS App Store, tilt-controlled climbing game Doodle Jump
has been downloaded over 10 million times according to developer Lima Sky.
The developer also announced a Kinect-powered XBLA version of the title is in the works, as well as an iPad version that will include "brand new content." These new versions come on top of an upcoming update for the original game that will bring multiplayer support, according to Lima Sky.
The popular title will be expanding into licensed products as well, with branded stationary, toys and comic books planned, according to the company. The game already features a cameo appearance from a character in Universal's upcoming animated comedy Hop
"After such incredible first two years, it is safe to say Doodle Jump
has exceeded even our wildest imaginations," Lima Sky founder Igor Pusenjak said in a statement. "We are looking forward to bringing even more amazing content to millions of Doodle Jump
fans around the world."
regularly topped the iPhone game sales charts during 2010. The title reached the 3 million download milestone just before its first anniversary last March.
In January, word leaked out that Pusenjak had sent legal requests
to developers of other iPhone apps with the word "Doodle" in their name, asking them to change their titles on trademark infringement grounds.
