The Japanese software market has slowed even further this week, with only one new entry in the top 10 and low sales across the board. Such results are not unusual for the time of year, though, and the charts are likely to see a considerable boost with the release of Pokemon Platinum
In the meantime, the best selling game of the week was again Rhythm Tengoku Gold
(to be known as Rhythm Heaven
in the West) on Nintendo DS, although it managed only 55,000 units in sales as it retained the number one spot.
The highest debut of the week was Blue Dragon Plus
on DS at number three. The portable spin-off from developer Mistwalker's first Xbox 360 role-playing game sold only 21,000 units, despite the lack of competition this week.
Sales were so low for the rest of the top ten that older titles, such as the Fire Emblem
remake on Nintendo DS and evergreen rhythm action game Daigasso! Band Brothers DX
, were able to sneak back in at numbers six and eight, respectively. Afrika
on PlayStation 3 also had a relatively strong second week, falling only as far as number four with 19,000 units sold.
The only other new entries this week, with sales below 14,000 units, included the Xbox 360 version of what is known in the West as Warriors Orochi 2
at number 19. Konami's anime tie-in Zettai Karen Children DS: Dai-4 no Children
on DS debuted at number 24 and DS virtual pet game Chi's Sweet Home
from Interchannel entered at number 25.
