LucasArts has announced a new multiplatform title based on the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series. Krome Studios will develop Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes, which will release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PS2, Wii, PC, DS and PSP.

Republic Heroes follows a new storyline set amid the events leading up to the TV series' second season, incorporates the same visual style, and lets players fight as both Jedi Knights and Clone Troopers in 30 missions.

Lucasfilm Animation's Singapore game studio will tackle the DS edition, which promises an "expanded storyline" featuring events and battles from the animated series' first season.

"The Clone Wars franchise has struck a chord with viewers and gamers around the world with its action-packed storyline and memorable heroes," says LucasArts president Darrell Rodriguez.

"With its Jedi and Clone Trooper gameplay and all-new storyline, Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes takes the franchise into a truly exciting and interactive direction."
