About a year ago we 've found that in some cases with runtime overload Unity shows unexpected behaviour. One of consequence was crazy multiplying of a gameobject, In our case it was enough to use GameObject.FindGameObjectsWithTag for solving that problem. Your code is more universal. Thanks.
