Power Rangers: Legacy Wars - Street Fighter Showdown - Short Film Available Now
SANTA MONICA, CA, – October 9, 2018 – Global content leader Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF.A, LGF.B), in partnership with Hasbro, nWay, and Capcom, has released the short film Power Rangers: Legacy Wars - Street Fighter Showdown [LINK] detailing the origin of the new Power Rangers character Ryu Ranger. The film, sponsored by G Fuel and produced by fan-favorite production company Bat in the Sun and Hasbro’s entertainment label AllSpark Pictures, chronicles how the legendary Street Fighter® character Ryu is transported to the realm of the Morphin Grid and given a Crimson Hawk Power Coin, allowing him to morph into the Ryu Ranger.
In the short film Ryu Ranger teams up with the Power Rangers to take on their malicious nemeses M. Bison and Rita Repulsa. The short features iconic Mighty Morphin Green Ranger Jason David Frank alongside Ryu to make for a devastating heroic team.
The skilled Ryu Ranger is a new character created by nWay in partnership with Capcom and the Power Rangers creative team. He was first introduced to the hit mobile fighting game Power Rangers: Legacy Wars at San Diego Comic-Con as part of the Street Fighter cross-over event. With the limited-time in-game event coming to a close this month, players can compete in Street Fighter versus Power Ranger tournaments to find out which franchise has the ultimate fighting team. Along with the tournaments, there are special promotions to permanently unlock Street Fighter characters in the game. With Ryu Ranger as a playable character, users can wield the gravitational Hadoken-blasting, Shoryuken-striking powers of Ryu in Ranger form.
