Tuesday, May 6th, 2014: Willi Penner created Mathopoly and has been using it in classrooms since 2003, but it was only "released" to the public in early 2011. Since that time, classrooms around North America and overseas have used it as part of their math instruction. The question very early on was "Do you have an App for this? If you did, that would be awesome!".

His goal now is to create Mathopoly for iOS and Android devices and have this Math game be accessible in even more classrooms around the world. The Kickstarter campaign will raise funds to create a digital version of Mathopoly to be used in classrooms or individually on mobile devices and help find a company whose track record speaks for itself to create the digital version that resembles the board version.

Mathopoly offers students the opportunity to learn mathematical concepts and formulas in a fun, relaxed environment. It incorporates the mathematical diversity required to ensure success for kids in today’s challenging curriculum. Everything about Mathopoly is mathematical, from the dice toss to the curriculum based questions.

Creator Willi Penner struggled with Math his entire life and and as a teacher himself, he needed to solve the monotonous way schools were teaching math skills to students. He has seen improvements in the Math skills of students not only in his classes but classrooms around North America by using Mathopoly as a part of learning.

Mathopoly incorporates Curriculum Focus Points: Numbers, Statistics & Probability, Shape & Space and  Patterns & Relations. Mathopoly also uses Mental Math Question Cards and Problems Solving Question Cards. It includes a unique two dice system that allows for negative and positive integer rolls, a ruler for precise measuring questions and a protractor for drawing and estimating angles. A Junior Card Bundle is also available for ages 9 and up for a more focused approach on introducing Math concepts. Game Play Adaptation Examples are available to those who purchase, along with a Mathopoly Bingo version that has become very popular with teachers and parents.
