Brunel University has finalised its Spring Term guest lecturer
line up and is delighted with the stature, expertise and variety of
industry figures who have given up their time to speak to the MA
and BA Games Design and Theory students next year.
The 2013 line-up is a terrific cross section of the
game industry with a mix of elder statesmen such as Ian
Livingstone ( Life President of Eidos) Francis Tresham
(Original Inventor of Civilization and Railroad Tycoon) and Chris
Deering ( former CEO Sony Europe, alongside hands on
developers, Steve Goss (Supermassive) Adam Langridge ( ex Lionhead
), Jervis Johnson (Games Workshop) Paul Croft (CEO
Mediatonic) , Anna Marsh ( Indie developer) with Marketeer Richard
Cornish ( Brand Manager Hasbro Europe) and
journalist Tony Mott (Editor in Chief Edge) adding
other industry perspectives.
The guest lecturer programme is organised by Steve Jackson and
he believes that it is a vital part of the course as the students
learn so much from external industry speakers “Our guest
lecturer programme is always hugely popular and very useful for all
our students. Our BA and MA courses in Game Theory and Design are
structured to prepare our students as much for working in the real
world.
Therefore an insight from people already doing that is an
intrinsic part of preparing them to work within the games industry.
Having worked in the games industry myself, I understand that it
isn't always easy for busy professionals to give up their time to
come and speak here. We are very grateful to everyone who has
signed up to speak next year and think that we have lined up a
great cross section of industry experts!“
Steve Goss, Director of Design at Supermassive added “I
have spoken at Brunel on several occasions; I think it’s
incredibly important for professionals within the industry to share
as much as they can with those who aspire to work in games
development. I am very impressed with content of
Brunel’s courses and the calibre of graduates they produce.
So much so, that Supermassive has hired five Brunel graduates over
the past couple of years!“
All lectures are open to non-students and anyone wishing to
attend is welcome. A full time table and other information
