Singapore – 26/11/2012 – Arkadia Studios today
announced a strategic partnership with Asia’s premier
e-payment provider, MOL – Money Online. This follows the
recent announcement from Entropia Universe platform provider
MindArk PE AB, of its introduction of MOL as a payment
provider.
‘We are very excited to have MOL as an Entropia Universe
payment provider,’ says Arkadia Studios CEO David Dobson.
‘This enables MOL to move ahead with its plans to promote
Planet Arkadia in Singapore and across Asia to its tens of millions
of customers – people who already pay to play games
online.’
MOL works with over 200 games publishers globally, leveraging a
network of over 360,000 physical payment channels across the Asia
Pacific region.
‘It is actually not that common for young people to have a
credit card in many parts of Asia,’ says Arkadia Studios
Community Manager, Cyrus Chen. ‘As a result, there are many
people who until now didn’t have a method of depositing into
Arkadia. But with MOLPoints, that has changed.’
MOL customers currently use their local currency to buy
MOLPoints which can then be used with any of MOL’s 200 game
partners.
‘MOL handles over 60 million transactions per year,
processing an annual payment volume of US $500 million,’ says
Dobson, ‘so as a huge business, they are very well placed to
promote Planet Arkadia to a large demographic who previously
couldn’t really access it.’ As part of the agreement,
MOL will be making limited edition Arkadia-themed MOL prepaid
cards. These will be distributed in December 2012 to over 750 touch
points in Singapore including 711s, Cheers, Popular, Comics
Connection and more.
