Social app and game monetization company Tapjoy today launched its own app marketplace, as a means of deepening its engagement with users and developers.
As leaked earlier in the week
, the Tapjoy app marketplace is available via the official Tapjoy website
, and can be accessed through any HTML5-supported device, including iOS, Android and Windows Phone.
The official announcement added that the marketplace allows users to like or dislike any app available via the Apple App Store or Android Market, and then be given recommendations based on these choices.
Users can also share information with friends, such as which apps they're currently using, and reviews about games.
As part of the new platform, Tapjoy's Mobile Value Exchange allows users to earn virtual currency by watching videos, signing up for subscriptions and installing specific apps.
Tapjoy notes that publishers can choose to connect with users via the app marketplace, and engage with their audience base to generate further revenue.
Mihir Shah, president and CEO of Tapjoy, explained, "Smartphone and tablet users are clearly eager for a better way to find new apps."
"We already touch a very large and very passionate community of mobile app consumers -- with more than 35 million Monthly Active Users -- and we are proud to bring them something totally different from anything else out there. We've combined our personalized app recommendation engine and enormous app marketplace with social sharing and joint discovery features to create a unique and very personal app discovery experience."
