Free CryEngine 3 SDK Update Strengthens Collaborative Features

Free CryEngine 3 SDK Update Strengthens Collaborative Features

October 17, 2011 | By Frank Cifaldi

The latest update to Crysis developer Crytek's free CryEngine 3 SDK adds features to aid in collaborative development, along with a new online project database.

The just-launched projects database allows developers to organize and distribute their projects, as well as attract new talent to grow their teams.

Among the other updates to the latest build are various bugfixes, improved level loading, and adjustments to the particle and AI systems.

The CryEngine 3 SDK, which was released in August, is free to use for non-commercial products. Those wishing to sell games may do so through a revenue share model with CryTek.

The engine is the same used in the making of the company's Crysis 2.

Over 500,000 people have downloaded the free SDK, according to the company.
