Fallen Earth, LLC laid off three key workers as part of management restructuring: content development director Wes Platt, producer Dave Haydysch, and marketing director Jessica Orr.

"In order to maintain ongoing production and expansion of Fallen Earth, we have reshuffled some of our management team," the company explained in a statement posted by Massively. "As a result of these recent events, [Platt, Haydysch, and Orr] are no longer with us."

The firm is best known its self-titled, subscription-based MMORPG Fallen Earth, which was co-developed with Icarus Studios and built with the Icarus engine. Icarus shares its North Carolina office and CEO with Fallen Earth, and also supports the developer's staff.

These layoffs follow six months after Icarus Studios discharged an unspecified number of employees while restructuring its resources and staffing, a move the company said was necessary for maintaining the growth, continuing development, and making Fallen Earth profitable.

Icarus had around 110 workers prior to that April restructuring while Fallen Earth had about 55 employees. Following the layoffs, Icarus had had 28 core staff members plus its customer support team and GMs.

Fallen Earth reassured subscribers, "As a small indie developer, Fallen Earth stands by our fans and we assure you that your game play experience will not be compromised by the recent events. We will continue to deliver new content as development on Fallen Earth continues."

When I gave their free trial a shot, that game blew pretty hard (a little less than a year ago). I wonder if they're hemorrhaging money because it hasn't gotten any better since. It looked very "work in progress", and had little-to-no direction of any kind in sight.
