Square Enix joins Wii U Virtual Console with Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
January 27, 2016 | By Christian Nutt

Nintendo's Virtual Console service for the Wii U has been running since 2013, and Game Boy Advance support has been running since 2014, but one of Nintendo's most significant third-party supporters has finally joined the game.

Tomorrow, Square Enix will release Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, which first hit the GBA in 2003, for the system.

Square Enix has had a relationship with Nintendo since it was two separate companies, Square and Enix, which stretches back to the 1980s and the original Nintendo Entertainment System. Some of its older games are the most popular and most desired.

Somehow, until now, it had been avoiding Nintendo's download services this generation. The company strongly supported the Virtual Console on the original Wii with Super Nintendo classics such as Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger

The company joins other companies with storied libraries now available on the console, including Capcom and Konami.

There's no word on what games may be in store for the future. The company has a host of games that span all platforms currently supported by Virtual Console on both the Wii U and the 3DS.
