As part of Sony's Tokyo Game Show conference today, the company laid on the new hardware and new games for the PS Vita and PS4, with multiple announcements made.

A new PS Vita model was followed up by the surprise announcement of the PS Vita TV box, a device that can throw handheld games onto your TV. And the PlayStation 4 also received a release date in Japan -- February 22, 2014.

Sony said that the recent price cut on the Vita handheld has led to "a remarkable increase in sales of hardware and software," with titles like Phantasy Star Online 2 and Soul Sacrifice proving popular amongst players.

Keiji Inafune took to the stage to reveal Soul Sacrifice Delta for Vita, a sequel to the original hack 'n' slash title from earlier this year. The game will be released in Japan in March 2014.

And Sega revealed that it has a new title in the Phantasy Star series that will be exclusive to PS Vita. Phantasy Star Nova is a collaboration with Tri-Ace.

Elsewhere, Sony showed multiple trailers for the upcoming PS Vita release schedule, with titles like Gundam Breaker, Terraria, Diabolik Lovers, Sweet School Life, Amnesia World, and Final Fantasy X and X-2 on the way to the handheld.

PlayStation 4 goes heavy on games

Sony also had plenty of developers on-hand to take to the stage, and announce new titles for the upcoming PS4 console.

GungHo and Grasshopper Manufacture provided one of the bigger announcements of the show, as Goichi "Suda51" Suda revealed Lily Bergamo, a new game for the PlayStation 4. Suda described the game as an "extreme action" title that will star a female protagonist. The game will launch sometime next year.

Kadokawa Game Studio, a new game studio from publisher Kadokawa Games, announced its first title -- an SRPG called Natural Doctrine, launching next year for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita.

Arc System Works showed Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-, a home port of its upcoming arcade game, while Level-5 said that its upcoming Wonder Flick RPG will also get a release on PS4, PS3 and PS Vita, alongside the iOS release.

A new title in the Earth Defense Forces was teased for PS4, as was a new title in the Gundam series, called Mobile Suit Gundam.

Capcom revealed more details regarding its upcoming Deep Down adventure game for PlayStation 4. The game utilizes the PantaRay engine, and maps, enemies and weapon placement are randomly-generated.

Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends will come to the PS4, Tecmo Koei said, and will be available at PS4 launch on February 22, 2014. And Sega revealed that Yakuza Ishin, a new title -- and the eighth title -- in the Yakuza franchise, is coming to the PlayStation 4 at launch.

The latter will also be released for PS Vita, said Sega, and will feature cross-play between the two consoles.

A lengthy trailer showed off all the games that will be launched during for PS4 in Japan, with around two-dozen titles given a brief spot each. Titles like Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Killzone: Shadow Fall, Driveclub, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Infamous: Second Son took center stage.

And Sony once again highlighted its indie developer push, noting that many of the same indie titles that have been pushed in the West will also be available from the PS4 launch in Japan, including Octodad: The Dadliest Catch.
