Newsbrief: Prince of Persia creator Jordan Mechner has today launched his Karateka fighting game remake for Xbox Live Arcade, with versions for PSN, PC and iOS to follow.

The original beat 'em up was released in 1984, and created solely by Mechner while he was studying at Yale University. This new version has a small team working on it, although Mechner is still deeply involved in day-to-day game development.

Earlier this year, the industry veteran told Gamasutra that he turned his attention to this particular project after he found himself "itching to do a different kind of project that would feel a little more 'guerrilla.'"

Pictures of the game look great, I hope for a DRM free version on GOG.
