Little Inferno highlights this week's Best of Indie Games

More: Indie, Design

This week on "Best Of Indie Games," we take a look at some of the top independent PC Flash/downloadable titles released over this last week.

The goodies in this edition include an iOS pick personally endorsed by the creator of Minecraft, a new game from Kyle Gray and 2D Boy co-founder Kyle Gabler, an illustrated choose-your-own-adventure offering, plus a browser-based title that will have you playing as a ghost.

Here's some recent highlights from IndieGames.com:

Game Pick: 'Micro Miners' (Jean-Philippe Sarda, commercial indie)
"Micro Miners for iPhone and iPad takes elements of Lemmings and Where's My Water, creates an ever-expanding set of rules for digging and surviving, and wraps it all up in a charming albeit visually raw game."

Game Pick: 'Why Am I Dead? ' (Peltast Games, browser)
"A browser-based title that will have you playing as a ghost intent on figuring out exactly who murdered him, Why Am I Dead? will have you possessing random hotel guests and using them as part of your investigative efforts."

Game Pick: 'Little Inferno' (Tomorrow Corporation, commercial indie)
"Little Inferno sits players in front of the Little Inferno Entertainment Fireplace and tells them to burn all of their worldly possessions. Logs, toys, and credit cards are all fair game for incineration."

Game Pick: 'Puzzle Popstar!' (logicow, browser)
"In Puzzle Popstar!, players use a magical line to connect the popping star objects to all the other like-colored objects. Order, angle, refractions, warmholes, and supernovas all play a part in this brilliant puzzler."

Game Pick: 'The Message' (Jeremy Lonien & Dominik Johann, browser)
"The Message is a lavishly illustrated choose-your-own-adventure thing created with twine that does all sorts of impressive stuff with its presentation."

Game Pick: '4NR' (P1XL, commercial indie)
"4NR is a truly great puzzle platformer with a simple yet effective plot, an assortment of interesting and uniquely mixed mechanics and absolutely excellent controls that starts off with a major dilemma."

Game Pick: 'Velodrome' (Matthew Brown, browser)
"Matthew Brown's Velodrome is a pulse-pounding combination of rhythm and racing that requires one to four players to tap to the dynamic beat. The game rates the rhythm tapping from 'perfect' to 'miss,' and the more timely taps further propel the pick-vehicle."
