Critically acclaimed video game designer Jane Jensen and composer Robert Holmes have launched a new adventure games studio, with a "community supported gaming" model in place.

Jensen is an adventure game veteran, having created the Gabriel Knight series and co-designed on King's Quest VI, along with work on other titles. She is married to Holmes, who is perhaps best known for having composed the music for the Gabriel Knight franchise.

The duo has now launched Pinkerton Road Studio, with the aim to create adventure games that focus on dramatic storylines that are "deep and compelling."

As part of the studio's community-supported development, it has launched a Kickstarter project to fund its first year of adventure games. Depending on how much it raises through this Kickstarter, the studio will develop between 2-3 games.

Backers will also be able to weigh in on development decisions, and take part in beta tests for the games.

Jensen explained, "I've wanted to return to adventure game development for years, and now is exactly the right time. The casual game market is ready for meatier fare and the hardcore audience is nostalgic for games like these."

"Forming Pinkerton Road means retaining control of my ideas and ensuring my games' quality all the way through development. At this point in my career, this level of involvement is very important to me, and I know it will enable me to get my best work out to my fans."

Does this mean we might see an EcoQuest sequel? It might not have been incredibly deep and compelling, but it was tons of fun.
