Frederic Poirier's Blog

I am a neuroscientist turned game designer.

I am making a videogame, a demo of which is available at Vortex Green. My game is a single-player action combat game with a focus on building original combat scenarios. It is also made with modding in mind, with in-game modding tools already available.

I am writing a blog series based on my experiences as a new game developer. I find that a lot of the books I read on game development tend to be high-level. In contrast, in my articles I go deep into a lot of the day-to-day decision-making and the possible long-term impacts on the game.

I also write articles to bring in unusual insights based on my scientific skills, such as how we can insert some science into game development to improve our work.

Other than my website, you can read my blogs about Guild Wars 2 at Incgamers, or if you're masochistic, you can read some of my scientific articles.

You can follow my work and encourage me at Vortex Green.

Thank you
