Stephen Jacobs is an RIT Associate Professor in the Department of Interactive Games and Media, and an Associate Director of the Center for Media, Art, Games, Interaction and Creativity (MAGIC) at RIT. He has consulted on game design and narrative for Second Avenue Learning, and Ratatoskr Entertainment,Inc and on the serious game efforts Just Press Play,  Picture the Impossible, MindGamers, and others. He currently serves on the Executive Committee for the IGDA Learning, Education and Games SIG and in the past has been on the Executive Committees for The IGDA Writers and Educators SIGs and has been a presenter at GDC. He serves as a Visiting Scholar for the International Center for the History of Electronic Games at the Strong National Museum of Play, where he contRibuted to the design of the eGameRevolution permanent exhibit and is currently working with them on a new exhibit to be opened in 2016.  He is also working with the Shalom Street Museum in Detroit on "Across the Board" an exhibit on Jews Toys and Games. Over two days the UPB and RIT students heard from Thomas Jarzombek, Representative for Westphalia and Dr. Peter Tauber, Secretary General of the Germany's leading political party, the Christian Democratic Union. Both men work closely with Chancelor Merkel

Another RIT/University of Paderborn visit was to Wargaming's office in Berlin. Some interesting discussions around game balance and the companies broader activities ensued.

I went to Germany with 15 students to hang with Dr. Professor Jörg Müller-Lietzkow and his students. Jörg's introduced us to major components of German games culture, politics and studios. Writers and IGDA leaders, this one's one got stuff for you.

During GDC Tuesday night over 70 American and Israeli game industry members, friends and family sat down last night to celebrate the Jewish Holiday of Passover with a Seder.

Game Profs often have to struggle with conflicting requirements of the Ivory Tower and Industry. Today RIT is launching a dual-headed new entity called MAGIC (Media Arts Games Interactivity Creativity)that will allow us to have our cake and eat it too.
