Luis Levy's Blog   Expert Blogs

I'm a lucky gamer that gets to work with talented game developers every day :)

I'm a co-founder of Novy PR, a firm specializing in mobile and indie games. I'm also the author of Play the Game: The Parent's Guide to Video Games and Game Development Essentials: Game QA & Testing.

It all started in the mid-1980s in São Paulo, Brazil. First it was Enduro on the Atari VCS/2600, then Super Mario Bros. (an eye-opening experience) and Prince of Persia on the PC. I was hooked for life.

I got my start in the game industry as a QA tester for Activision -- on Quake 4 PC. I later joined Treyarch as a production tester on Call of Duty 3. I've been working in game PR for 4 years now, starting as an assistant coordinator in January 2008.

Kevin, reading this makes me incredibly happy. I saw this post as taking a huge chance -- essentially saying NO to future clients who are not 110 percent behind their games. r n r nI knew it was risky but thought it had to be said. I 'm glad Gamasutra ...

I think 16-bit and mobile ...

I think 16-bit and mobile are reasonably similar in terms of immersion. They don 't tell complicated stories with voice acting and massive production budgets. So I didn 't really address immersion in the post. r n r nReal buttons can help more retro mobile games, but touch-based gameplay doesn ...

I don't remember specific titles, but the Wikipedia page for the Nintendo 64 mentions it: The cost of producing an N64 cartridge was far higher than producing a CD. 63 Publishers had to pass these higher expenses to the consumer and as a result, N64 games tended to sell for ...
