(WARNING: anyone pointing out my bad grammer will be shot by the order of the author )

So I have been involved with many aspects of production ( music,3d modeling, compositing, animation, etc )  and have had more than a few people hit me up about  a new  game company they are starting and are looking for members to be part of their team....I give them my usally respone:  AWESOME  I'M IN... but the main problem is that these project never go any where!   mainly  for one reason: the kid that starts the
project doesn't know how to make videogames.  He has an idea  for the kind of game he wants to make  but doesn't know how to do any of the actual work.  Now  although I know for a fact that video game companies can exisist with founders that are not programmers, artists, animators  or modelers, it makes  it very very very very very  hard  for a kid with a dream of making a video game to  see his game  come to life  if he is expecting to find
other people to build if for him  ( unless  he has a lot of cash, then it's  game on!! )   but usaully they are trying to build a team   of artists  that  work for  inspiration of his idea and not cash.  Well it is very hard to inspire an artist  without art  and if all you have is an idea  then  here is what you need to do to get your team together:

1. become an artist.

this  sounds obvious  but it's the 1st thing that has to happen, even if you can't  draw stick figures to save your life, start!  download the trials  or student versions of the lastes  software used in the video  game industry and start the  learning process... model, animate, code!   get your hands  dirty with the work that needs to be done.  you dont have to be the best  but if you are  using the software and practicing the techniques  then your already building you videogame!!!!

2.  repeat step one!!!

3. repeat step two!!!

4.  keep creating:

soon  you will  have evidence that youR game is real and something you can show other people... before you know it a game company is born out of the worK and you're on your way to your dream

To me the worst pitch for a game i " I have a great idea for a game!" because...so do I ...and I have the means and knowledge to bring it to life by myself. So if i work with someone else a solid idea is a nice starting place but being able to contribute and not put the entire burden of development on me is a huge incentive. I am currently working on a small project with a friend and he has earned my respect by writing out a schedule, collecting assets, designing the game mechanics, and leaving me to handle any and everything related to programming and getting things functioning in-engine .

Relationships like that make working rewarding but no one wants to be the lone pack mule for bringing a game from concept to reality.
