There happens to be a large amount of Indie games that are coming out or will be coming out that people may not know about or didn't know they cared about. But, I am here to show you a couple of the games that I am excited about. This isn't a complete list of every game ever, just the best I have handpicked to talk about.

Monaco: What's Yours Is Mine by Pocket Watch Games is the first game I have for you and one that I am looking forward to playing. If you're unfamiliar with Monaco, it is a single player or co-op heist game. You get to assemble a team of thieves, "case the joint," and pull off the perfect heist. Play with up to four people online or on the same screen and compete on the leaderboards. You get to choose one of eight classes, each with unique skills and abilities, to get the job done. You can be one of the following:

  • The Locksmith: Blue-color infiltration expert
  • The Lookout: She can see and hear everything... a natural leader
  • The Pickpocket: A hobo with a monkey and a penchant for crime
  • The Cleaner: A silent psychopath... John Wayne Gacy in pink
  • The Mole: Big and dumb... likes to tunnel
  • The Gentleman: He doesn't always wear a disguise, but when he does, he looks fantastic
  • The Hacker: Armies of viruses shut down security... a modern day warlock
  • The Redhead: Manipulative and murderous... a lady always get what she wants

Monaco happens to be on sale before it releases next week on both Steam and the developers website for 13.49 and 13.50, respectively. If you like difficult co-op games, may be worth checking out. When it isn't on sale it will cost $14.99 on Steam.

Chasm by Discord Games is up next and is being described as a Metroidvania (Metroid/Castlevania hybrid) game. It currently has a Kickstarter page to secure funds to get this game created. The game itself is a retro 2D Action-RPG Platformer that draws inspiration from hack 'n slash dungeon crawlers and Metroidvania-style platformers that has unique dungeons and loot drops in every play through.

The game starts off with you playing the role of a soldier passing through a remote mining town on a journey home from war. You discover that the town's miners have recently disappeared after discovering a temple hidden underground that woke an ancient evil. You become trapped in the town and have to defeat said ancient evil to return home.

The game allows you to choose your own game style; do you want to use weapons, weapon and shield, or neither and pick up a spellbook? As you progress through the game you will encounter random loot drops of varying rarity. You have the option to play one of two modes: Normal and Hardcore. If you die in Hardcore mode, you have to start over. You get to experience massive boss battles as well as mini-bosses throughout the dungeons.

Right now you can go help back the game on their Kickstarter page with a minimum pledge of $15 to receive a DRM-free copy for Windows, Mac, and Linux. If the game gets Greenlit through Steam that will also include a Steam copy as well. There are exclusive in-game items that can only be gotten through the Kickstarter campaign. So, go help this game out!

Shadowrun Returns by Harebrained Schemes is the last game I want to talk about today. Shadowrun started off as a pen and paper game nearly twenty-five years ago. Shadowrun Returns is a graphically-rich, single player, turn-based tactical RPG game that takes place in a cyberpunk future where magic has returned awakening creatures of myth.

The game starts out with an old friend of yours having just been murdered and his sister wants you to come and help figure out what happened to him. This brings you all over a futuristic Seattle from the slums of biker gangs up to the largest megacorporations that run things in the city.

You're able to create your own unique character of a handful of fantasy races including elves, dwarves, orks, and trolls and classes such as Mages, Samurai, Shamans, computer hackers known as Deckers, drone-piloting Riggers, or a monk-like Physical Adept. You're not confined to any one class, though; you're able to grow your character in any direction you choose.

When you beat the main story, included is a Level Editor that the designers used to create the game allowing you to create your own locations, buildings, and stories for others to play. This editor is set to be launched alongside the launch of the game scheduled next month.

There is a pre-order page available until April 28th, and then pre-orders will move to Steam on April 29th. You can get the basic game and editor for $15 or there are also Deluxe and Collector's Editions for $30 and $75 respectively.

So, there you have it. That is my list of upcoming Indie games that I think you should check out. If you don't like them, that won't offend me. But, let me know what you think in the comments!
